About MDOA 2026

MDOA 2026 is the 7th edition of the International Conference on Multi-disciplinary Design Optimization & Applications. The conference welcomes contributions spanning optimization, computation, AI, mechanics, manufacturing, and industrial applications.

Special Sessions, Workshops & Minisymposia

We invite proposals for special sessions, workshops, or minisymposia addressing emerging and advanced topics related to the scope of MDOA 2026.

Each session or minisymposium should consist of at least five paper presentations. The session organizer (or organizing team) may present at most two papers. Organizers are responsible for advertising the session and for selecting and reviewing submitted papers. Papers for special sessions or minisymposia should be submitted directly to the corresponding organizers, who also define the submission deadlines.

Session/minisymposium organizers will be granted one free registration (for each four physical registrations).

Professor Kalyanmoy Deb

Michigan State University, USA

Keynote title: Reliability of Complex Mechatronics Systems

Kalyanmoy Deb is a Full Professor and Koenig Endowed Chair in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Michigan State University, with joint appointments in Computer Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. He is the Director of the Computational Optimization and Innovation (COIN) Laboratory and a former founder and director of the Kanpur Genetic Algorithms Laboratory (KanGAL) at IIT Kanpur. Prof. Deb is internationally recognized as a pioneer of evolutionary multi-objective optimization and is best known for developing the NSGA-II and NSGA-III algorithms, which have become foundational methods in the field. His research spans nonlinear optimization, many-objective optimization, constraint handling, engineering design, and machine learning. With more than 236,000 citations and an h-index of 146, he is among the most highly cited researchers worldwide and has received numerous honors, including the IEEE Evolutionary Computation Pioneer Award and multiple lifetime achievement recognitions.

Keynote title: Reliability of Complex Mechatronics Systems

Abdelkhalak El Hami is a Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering at INSA Rouen Normandie, France. He received his PhD from the University of Franche-Comté in 1992 and his HDR in 2000. He is currently Deputy Director of the Normandy Mechanical Laboratory and Head of the Mechanics Chair at CNAM Normandie. His research interests include computational mechanics, structural dynamics, fatigue and reliability analysis, and design optimization, with applications in industrial and mechanical systems.

Keynote title: Reliability of Complex Mechatronics Systems

Weihong Zhang is a Full Professor and Vice President of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU), China, and a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is an internationally recognized expert in structural and multidisciplinary design optimization, computational mechanics, and advanced manufacturing. His research focuses on topology optimization, multi-scale and multi-physics modeling, and high-performance engineering design, with broad applications in aerospace and industrial systems.
